Backpack sprayer mix chart
Your label gives ounces per gallon. Your backpack holds 1 to 4 gallons. This chart does the multiplication for the common rates, with small amounts in teaspoons and mL.

Find your label rate on the left and your tank size across the top. Fill the tank partway with water, add the product, then top off to the line.

| Label rate | Teaspoons | Tablespoons | Milliliters |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.25 oz/gal | 1.5 tsp | 0.5 Tbsp | 7.39 mL |

| 0.75 oz/gal | 4.5 tsp | 1.5 Tbsp | 22.18 mL |
| 1 oz/gal | 6 tsp | 2 Tbsp | 29.57 mL |
| 1.5 oz/gal | 9 tsp | 3 Tbsp | 44.36 mL |

Common mistakes with backpack sprayers
- Using the tank's capacity instead of what you mixed. Two gallons in a 4 gallon backpack gets the 2 gallon amount.
- Per-1,000 sq ft labels. Those rates are not per gallon. Convert with your spray volume first: oz per 1,000 sq ft to oz per gallon.
- Dry products. Dry ounces are weight. Use a scale, not a measuring cup.
